Objectives

CERTAIN will develop a comprehensive safety assurance network for CCAM systems, ensuring their safe and trustworthy deployment across Europe. This network continuously assesses, monitors and verifies safety throughout the entire lifecycle — from design and development to real-world operation.

The framework rests on four core pillars:

  1. Human–Machine Interaction (HMI)
Evaluates and ensures effective, understandable and trustworthy interfaces between humans and automated systems.
  2. AI Validation
Develops methods to verify the robustness, reliability and ethical compliance of AI components in line with European AI regulations.
  3. V2X Validation
Tests the reliability, security and interoperability of Vehicle-to-Everything communications that underpin safe coordination between vehicles and infrastructure.
  4. After-Deployment Monitoring
Establishes continuous, in-service monitoring (ISMR) to ensure ongoing safety and adaptability in dynamic traffic environments.

Together, these pillars form a resilient, adaptive and human-centric safety network that protects lives, builds trust and keeps CCAM systems safe as they evolve.
