The Federal Highway and Transport Research Institute (BASt) is the practice-oriented, technical-scientific research institute of the German Government in the field of road engineering. It is dedicated to the diverse tasks resulting from the interactions between humans, transport, infrastructure and the environment. Its mission is the improvement of safety, environmental compatibility, efficiency and performance relating to roads.

Emotion3D

Emotion3D is an Austrian company developing software for in-cabin analysis based on artificial intelligence and computer vision. Its technology allows monitoring of drivers and passengers, including detection of distraction, drowsiness, and impairment, as well as support for adaptive human–machine interaction. The solutions are hardware-agnostic and designed to comply with international safety and regulatory standards such as NCAP and UNECE. emotion3D works with automotive manufacturers and Tier-1 suppliers worldwide to provide reliable, data-driven software for mobility systems.

i2CAT

The i2CAT research centre drives advanced digital solutions through applied research and innovation. The centre has over 20 years of multi-technology expertise in 5G/6G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Space Communications, Immersive, Interactive, and Digital Society Technologies. With an approach focused on knowledge transfer, i2CAT generates a tangible impact on the economy and improves people’s lives by connecting public administration, private enterprise, the scientific community and citizens. i2CAT is part of the CERCA network and is accredited by the TECNIO certification.

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika)

As part of RWTH Aachen University, the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) researches the entire vehicle, including its systems and their interactions. From the initial idea through innovative component and system concepts to vehicle prototypes, the Institute’s employees are shaping the vehicle of the future. The ika makes a recognized contribution to solving current and future challenges both in public projects and in cooperation with automobile manufacturers and suppliers. 
The basis of our intensive research work for large parts of the automotive industry as well as public funding bodies at EU, federal and state level is our extensive infrastructure, which ranges from drive, battery, chassis and tire test benches to acoustic, thermodynamic and servo-hydraulic test facilities to a complete vehicle crash facility and test tracks including state-of-the-art measurement technology. In addition, there is up-to-date software and hardware equipment for all necessary simulation disciplines.

SWOV

At SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research, it is our mission to use knowledge from scientific research to contribute to safer road traffic. SWOV helps answer questions policymakers and other road traffic professionals are confronted with. SWOV is a non-profit organization. Most of SWOV’s research is made possible by public funds. SWOV works for decentralised and semi-governments. But also consulting firms, companies and international clients use our research experience, such as the European Union. 
SWOV is independent with respect to its knowledge and research findings. A programme advisory board and a scientific advisory board advise us about our programming and the quality of our research. This research is typically interdisciplinary and always undergoes quality evaluation. SWOV-knowledge is public knowledge. SWOV develops fact sheets and reports to provide you with brief, clear and substantiated answers to road safety questions.

Toyota Motor Europe (TME)

Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA oversees the wholesale sales and marketing of Toyota, GR (GAZOO Racing) and Lexus vehicles and parts and accessories, as well as Toyota’s European manufacturing and engineering operations. Toyota directly employs over 24,000 people and has invested over EUR 11 billion in Europe since 1990. Its eight European manufacturing plants are located in Portugal, the UK, France, Poland, Czech Republic and Turkey. Today, there are approximately 16.5 million Toyota, GR and Lexus vehicles on European roads, whose drivers are supported by a network of 28 National Marketing and Sales Companies and around 2,800 retail sales outlets in 53 countries.

VALEO

VALEO is a leading tier1 automotive supplier, developing state-of-the-art automotive products and systems. The Brain division (ValeoCDA) leads research and innovation in ADAS, Connected and Automated Driving, User Experience, and automotive Digital Services. The teams develop new hardware and AI-embedded software, focusing on perception technologies using deep neural networks and AI, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), trajectory planning, decision-making, and control systems. These advancements are then validated on demonstrator vehicles, poised for rapid market integration. In this context, Valeo will contribute its extensive expertise and advanced urban autonomous vehicle prototypes to the CERTAIN project. The prototype will serve as critical real-world use cases, providing invaluable data and scenarios for the validation of AI-based CCAM systems.

ZF

ZF is a global technology company supplying advanced mobility products and systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial technology. Its comprehensive product range is primarily aimed at vehicle manufacturers, mobility providers and start-up companies in the fields of transportation and mobility. ZF electrifies a wide range of vehicle types. With its products, the company contributes to reducing emissions, protecting the climate as well as enhancing safe mobility. Alongside the automotive sector – passenger cars and commercial vehicles – ZF also serves market segments such as construction and agricultural machinery, wind power, marine propulsion, rail drives and test systems.

Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH)

The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) was founded in March 2000, it is a legal entity governed by private law with non-profit status, supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) of the Greek Ministry of Development. CERTH suggests one of the most important Research Centers in Greece with a main mission: The promotion of innovative research for the benefit of society. Dedicated to this purpose, CERTH lies at the forefront of basic, applied and technological research to provide solutions to society’s modern challenges. CERTH places a strong emphasis on innovation, which is demonstrated -among others- by the establishing collaborations with the industry.

DAF Trucks

DAF Trucks is a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc, a global technology company that designs and manufacturers light, medium and heavy-duty trucks. ERTICO

ERTICO – ITS Europe is a public-private partnership with nearly 120 members across eight sectors of the ITS community, including service providers, suppliers, research institutions, public authorities, and vehicle manufacturers. It drives innovation and stakeholder collaboration through co-funded projects, platforms, and advocacy, focusing on connected and automated mobility, eco-mobility, urban mobility, and logistics. ERTICO also organises the annual ITS Congress and, every third year, the ITS World Congress in Europe. Looking ahead, ERTICO continues to build international cooperation, foster policy dialogue, and support evidence-based decision-making to accelerate the digital and sustainable transformation of transport across Europe and beyond.

ICCS

The Institute of Computer and Communication Systems (ICCS) is the oldest and one of the largest academic research institutes in Greece. It is the research branch of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and it was founded in 1989 as an independent, non-profit body. Since then, ICCS has a valuable impact on the country’s scientific output by producing outstanding research results in areas such as hardware and software technology, computer network technology, digital communications technologies, automation technologies, energy and power production technologies, biomedical and biomechanics technologies, information systems and management decision technologies, photonic technologies for communications, etc. ICCS offers a world-class research environment and a dynamic hub that nurtures learning, continuous skill cultivation, international collaboration, and innovation, uniquely adapted to the ever-changing landscape of the digital age.

Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) 

Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt offers over 75 bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in engineering and economics across its six faculties. More than 8,100 students are currently enrolled on these programmes. In addition to providing high-quality, practical-oriented education, THI is also highly committed to research and development. With over 70 professors conducting research in eight institutes and more than 300 researchers, THI covers a wide range of research fields. Through its CARISSMA research centre, which consists of three institutes, THI has established itself as the leading scientific centre for vehicle safety research in Germany. As the Bavarian AI mobility hub, THI is establishing an artificial intelligence centre with the support of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria.

University of Leeds

Vaive Logistics

Vaive Logistics is the new technology start-up committed to the development and commercialisation of autonomous delivery vehicles in the context of urban last-mile logistics operations. Vaive helps external companies optimize their logistics operations, reduce their environmental impact, and create a more efficient and secure delivery system. This is achieved thanks to Ona, an electric vehicle designed to operate autonomously eliminating the need for a human driver.

Vicomtech

Vicomtech is an applied research centre for Interactive Computer Graphics and Multimedia located in San Sebastian (Spain). It is a non-profit association, founded in 2001 as a joint venture by the Fraunhofer INI- GraphicsNet Foundation and the EiTB Broadcasting Group. The role of Vicomtech in the market is to supply society with technology by transfer of primary research to industry. This is done through collaborative R&D projects. Vicomtech develops its activity in the field of Information Technologies, especially the convergence of Computer Graphics and Computer Vision (Visual Computing), Data Analytics & Intelligence, Interactive Digital Media and Language Technologies.

Interdisciplinary Approach

CERTAIN brings together engineers, data scientists, AI specialists, psychologists, sociologists, standardisation experts and communication professionals - all contributing to one goal: a resilient, human-centric and continuous safety assurance framework for CCAM.

This mix of disciplines ensures the project captures the technical, human and regulatory dimensions of safety assurance. Through open collaboration and strong management, CERTAIN turns diversity into strength - translating interdisciplinary expertise into results that matter for Europe’s mobility future.
